Senior Cloud Engineer

Would you like to build the Azure Government foundations for a new federal SaaS platform, rather than inherit infrastructure that's already in place? You will join an established international software business bringing its document management platform to the US federal market. As Senior Cloud Engineer, you will help turn the approved architecture into secure, production-ready infrastructure, and establish how it will be operated over the long term.

The program is in its design phase, with the main infrastructure build planned for late 2026 and authorization targeted for 2027. You’ll join as a founding Senior Cloud Engineer, working hands-on with a specialist advisory partner while shaping the technical decisions that will underpin the platform.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, build and secure the Azure Government environment from code, translating the reference architecture into dependable infrastructure. Own Terraform and automated deployment pipelines, making releases repeatable, reviewable and easier to operate. Deploy and support production AKS workloads, including Windows node pools and containerized .NET applications. Put security controls into practice across identity, networking, monitoring and cloud protection, supporting FedRAMP readiness without being expected to own the entire authorization process. Collaborate with product engineers on secure connectivity and customer-managed keys, and build automated ways to collect compliance evidence. Set the operational foundations for launch, including vulnerability management, patching, backup and recovery, incident response and on-call runbooks.

What You'll Bring

At least seven years in cloud infrastructure or platform engineering, including three or more years building and operating production Azure environments. Deep, hands-on Terraform experience: you’ve written, deployed and maintained infrastructure code yourself. Production Kubernetes experience, ideally with AKS, Windows node pools and .NET workloads. Practical knowledge of Azure security and connectivity tools such as Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, Key Vault, Azure Policy, Entra ID, managed identities and Private Link. Experience implementing technical controls in FedRAMP or another regulated environment; prior Azure Government or FedRAMP experience is valuable, but not essential. The judgment to move between architecture and hands-on delivery, and the communication skills to work constructively with engineers, advisors and assessors. You must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident, work from within the United States and be able to support US business-hours or on-call coverage. No visa sponsorship is available.
